Before you tap a quality, X2Download tells you how big the file is. Here is a real example.

How to download a YouTube video

  1. Copy the video link

    In the YouTube app, tap Share and then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar.

  2. Paste it into X2Download

Quick fixes

  • The link is not accepted

    Copy the link again from the Share button in YouTube. Channel pages, search pages and playlist pages are not video links.

  • The download does not start

    Wait until the window shows 100%, then tap Download. The file is saved to your Downloads folder.

  • Nothing happens inside an app

    Apps such as chat or social apps open links in their own small browser, which may block downloads. Open this page in Chrome or Safari instead.

  • The video can't be found

    Private, deleted and region-blocked videos can't be saved. Check that the video plays on YouTube, then try again.

Which formats and qualities can I download?

You can save a video as MP4 in 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p, 240p or 144p, depending on what the video offers. On the MP3 tab you can save the sound only, with 320, 256 or 128 kbps.

How long does it take?

Usually a few seconds. After you paste a link, the quality cards appear with their file sizes. Tap one, and a small window shows the progress. When it reaches 100%, tap Download.

Can I download YouTube Shorts?

Yes. Copy the link of the Short from the Share button and paste it into X2Download, just like a normal video. The preview keeps its tall shape, and you can save it as MP4 or MP3.

Do I need to install an app or create an account?

No. X2Download works in the browser on your phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install, no extension to add and no account to create.

Where do my downloaded files go?

On Android, saved files go to the Downloads folder, which you can open from the Files app. On iPhone, look in the Files app under Downloads. On a computer, check your Downloads folder.

Why doesn't my video work?

The video may be private, deleted, age-restricted or blocked in your country, or it may be a live stream that is still running. Also check that you pasted a video link, not a channel or playlist page.

Is it legal to download YouTube videos?
